Near Ouveillan is the lofty mysterious Cistercian grange of Fontcalvy.
Built by monks beside a little lagoon, this daughter-house of the splendid Abbey of Fontfroide, with its strong elegant architecture, dominated the landscape of the parish of Ouveillan for several centuries.
After the French revolution, it gradually fell into ruins and came close to being completely demolished in the mid 20th century. But its stout walls are still standing.
It became the backdrop for plays which narrate its eventful history and was soon hosting audiences of thousands and acting as a popular cultural venue for Narbonne.
It is now totally devoted to drama, music, dance and all the visual arts.

The thread: a black and white TV inside a big screen informs and guides the audience through the news and high spots of the decade.
The actors play the members of a rather stiffly traditional French family reluctant to embrace “progress” and social change…
