Great Buffets
A ground-breaker in so many ways, Les Grands Buffets is a restaurant which cannot be pigeonholed: quality of the produce, unbeatable choice, pride of place to local food and a return to the great French culinary traditions, unique decoration highlighted by works of well-known artists, wines at producer prices…
Today this restaurant founded in 1989 is taking things even further with a revolutionary and surprising offer: “Suppose you left without paying for your wine!” Here are the details.
Let’s start with the menu: for a single price of €27.90*, you can help yourself to any of the buffets. For starters you can have foie gras, oysters, crab, whelks, mixed seafood and smoked salmon. The spits are a true wonder for the eyes with sizzling suckling pig, farmhouse poultry, shoulders of lamb and joints of beef worthy of the huge banquets of yesteryear. To help you make up your mind, heed the advice of Gargantua “Fay ce que vouldras” (do as you will) atop the gigantic rotisserie which has earned the restaurant its membership of the very select international “Chaîne des Rôtisseurs”.

The array of desserts laid out round the chocolate fountain offers a wealth of great French patisserie classics, including millefeuilles, rum baba, Paris-Brest, Saint-Honoré and much more.
The choice and quality are quite unbelievable, and the same goes for the wine list which you will be surprised to learn has an equally wide range at producer prices. It could be called a guide to the great Languedoc vintages made up solely of the pearls from the best terroirs in the regions. Daumas Gassac, the Embres & Castelmaure Cuvée N° 3, the Gérard Bertrand Cigalus and Hospitalas, Cuvée Romain Pauc from Château La Voulte-Gasparets are just some of the prizes in a selection of 120 names, all of which have won medals or awards. And the cherry on the cake is that the restaurant has a new offer which will stagger you: “Suppose you left without paying for your wine!” It works like this: if you enjoyed your wine so much you want to buy a case of 6 bottles, the bottle you drank at table will be on the house.
What could be more attractive, especially as the case is sold at producer prices. And if you can bear to take your eyes off your plate, you can also admire the original pleasing décor with works by modern artists such as Patrick Chappert-Gaujal, Alain Bellanger and Hervé Di Rosa who also made the magnificent African bronze sculptures you can see if you ask to sit outside in the cool shade of the luxuriant terrace.
And for children, Les Grands Buffets makes no ordinary provision. The menu is free for under-fives and half price for six to ten year-olds. Parents who want some peace and quiet will be delighted to find their children can run around and have fun in the African village or go to the screen room specially designed for them.
So be sure to come to this sheltered place with its fragrant food cooked to perfection, a feast for the eyes and the taste buds, guided by attentive, thoughtful service, and all at a very affordable price however much you eat. Here is the recipe for success and it is no wonder that Narbonne is so proud of such a place which has become part of the local heritage.
We strongly recommend you to book your table...
